At Pioneer Dental Group, we’re known for our 25-year history of quality, patient-centered dental care in Norwalk, California. Dr. Behzad Binafard and our highly trained team specialize in cosmetic and general dentistry for the whole family.
Our on-site dental lab is a crucial aspect of both types of dentistry, as it’s where we create custom restorations to fill gaps in smiles, reinforce weak natural teeth, and even replace an entire mouth of teeth. Today’s blog discusses three ways we do that.
Crowns are tooth-shaped, hollow caps that cover a weak natural tooth. For example, patients who need a root canal procedure have deep decay within their tooth. After clearing out the decay, the tooth is weaker than before. A crown fits securely over the tooth and restores its strength.
A bridge is a set of crowns. It usually includes a crown, a replacement tooth, and another crown on the other side. The crowns fit over healthy existing teeth on either side of a missing tooth. This restores both appearance and normal function.
Our dental lab creates crowns made of materials like porcelain, ceramic, and porcelain fused to metal.
Dental implants are replacements for missing teeth. A titanium base, called a post, goes into your jawbone. To replace your missing tooth, our dental lab creates a custom tooth that screws or snaps onto the implant post.
A dental implant isn’t removable; it’s a permanent part of your smile. Once in place, you treat it just like a normal tooth. Because our lab creates custom tooth replacements, your new dental implant will look just like your old tooth, from its unique shape to its color.
Dental implants are typically porcelain or porcelain fused to metal, and they’re extremely sturdy and long-lasting.
Dentures are often a top choice for patients who have lost all the teeth in their upper or lower arch (or both). The replacement teeth fit securely into a rigid base, which is lined with a softer material.
The soft lining suctions to your gums, though some patients may need denture adhesive to help the restoration fit securely as they adapt.
Our dental lab also offers implant-retained dentures, which are a combination of dental implants and dentures. With this option, a small number of dental implant posts, spaced strategically throughout the arch, hold the teeth in place. Unlike regular dentures, implant-retained dentures aren’t removable.
At Pioneer Dental Group, we’re proud of our on-site lab because it offers our patients access to high-quality, custom-made restorations — often much faster than working with an external lab. We can also provide timely repairs through our dental lab, so you never need to worry about being without your teeth for extended periods.
